ENTERTAINMENTMOSES has lined up a terrific variety of entertainment to keep you amused and engaged throughout the Conference. We hope you take time to unwind, to dance, laugh and mix it up with your fellow Conference goers. 2010 OFC Line-Up Synister Dane and the Kickapoo Disco CosmonutsPrior to Each General Session There is no better reason to be on time for the keynote presentations than to experience the Synister Dane warm-up. Witty, agro-environmental lyrics and bluegrass harmony come together for agriculture to create a dynamic and organic keynote state of being. Jeff Bartovics, Allen Moody, Jim Pierce and Mark Shepard are the 'nuts' in the band who bring you Populist Protest Music by farmers for farmers and the folks who eat their food. Be sure to check out their website where you can buy their CD at www.synisterdane.com. The Children's Performance Friday, 7:00pm-7:45pm It's Circus Time in the theatre! Come discover what happens when the folks of Ee-Aw County take a hankerin' to join the circus that's come to town. It's a hoot! As usual, we'll have costumes for everyone, narrated parts and lines for those who want to learn them and time for simple set design and construction. Dance to the PHEROMONES Friday, 8:00pm-11:00pm - FREE and open to the public after 8pm! Come on! Stir it up - cut loose and get your compost cooking. Digging deep in the gut bucket rock, jump blues and rock-a-billy crop rotation, the Pheromones (John Navazio, lead singer and rhythm guitar; Glen Borgerding, bass and vocals; Martin Diffley, lead guitar and vocals; David Edminster, saxophone; Gene Mealhow, drums; Meg Moynihan, percussion and vocals) will have you dancing like sweet summer's sweat. Their rural rhythms are a visceral experience sure to get your knees a knockin' and your toes a rockin'. And don't forget, they'll play a few waltzes, polkas and country 2-steps too! Of course, all ingredients are certified organic performed by organic farmers! Early AM Yoga with Tammy Z Friday and Saturday, 7:00am-8:00am Join Tammy Z for a revitalizing yoga series before starting your conference day. Yoga is for all ages, and all body types. Relax your body and mind, stretch, release tension. Please come dressed in comfortable clothes that promote easy movement. Please bring your own yoga mat or a large beach towel. Community of a Plate Photo Exhibit The Community of a Plate photo exhibit, produced by Renewing the Countryside, illuminates and celebrates the growth of a local foods movement that is built around good plates of food. From small town cafes to suburban food shelves, the Community of a Plate photo exhibit will take you on a journey through this exciting, expanding movement. Film Screenings (Thurs - Sat) Day and Evening Screenings Join us in the screening rooms for a variety of food and farming themed films. Films include "Growing Health", by Michigan filmmaker Chris Bedford, "Big River", by the guys who brought you "KingCorn", a preview of Deborah Koons Garcia's next feature, "Soil in Good Heart", and many more. All films will screen multiple times throughout the conference, so you'll have plenty of time to schedule your favorites! |
