FOR RENT: I am caring for a piece of the family farm, approximately 40 acres. Green County, WI says 23 tillable, I say 15-18. 3 fields; 2 with southern slope, 1 pretty flat. This started in 2012 as a woodland restoration. I want the land to be used. I am willing to help with organic certification, rent is negotiable. I have a storage hoop house being built that can be shared. There is a well that has been recently tested and new hand pump installed. The farm is located SW of Brooklyn WI, less than 30 minutes South of Madison. The 2 sloped fields are and have been grass with some alfalfa. The first crop baled and then mowed occasionally during the summer. No chemical additives for 3 seasons. The plan is to add horse manure from the home stead barn yard this fall. Dunbarton silt loam. The remaining field is HvB. This is part of a larger field that has a portion that is sometimes too wet to be used. I have planted summer crops that were designed for bio mass and tilled in. This fall a crop of radish and clover were planted for winter cover and continuation of soil improvements. The field, including much of the space that was too wet this year, has been a soy bean/corn rotation, convention methods. No additives for 3 growing seasons.
